The Splendor of Fall Color

Months ago, I planned what’s becoming an annual trip to the SC upstate for fall color.  And such a trip would not be complete without a boat ride with Lake Jocassee Boat Tours.  While the vista views seemed less than brilliant, once you were up close and personal, the colors just popped!  From the neon yellow walnut trees, golden brown magnolias, bright red sourwood, yellow maples, and sweet gum; well it’s just endless.

I’ve included a small gallery of images from the lake tour.  Click on each one to enlarge it for a better/complete view.

The smells of the forests, the birds that pay us a surprise visit, and the peacefulness of the lake all add up to an awesome adventure! It never felt like a 4 hour tour on the lake and I’ll be back again and again.  It’s such a great way to experience fall color.

As a bonus this trip, we had a visit from a little black bear…

owned by a special little granddaughter who was too tiny to be on the boat in chilly weather but was there in spirit.  What a great day!
